A large number of people worldwide are killed and injured on the roads annually, and it makes concern internationally.

ISO 39001 is for road traffic safety (RTS) management systems to help organizations involved in road traffic systems reduce the deaths and serious injuries associated with road traffic accidents.

It contains information on the development and implementation of appropriate RTS policy, the development of RTS objectives and operations to meet statutory and other requirements, and the criteria related to RTS that are approved by the organization.

ISO 39001 is intended to address RTS management, not intended to specify the technical and quality requirements of transportation products and services (e.g. roads, traffic signs/lights, automobiles, trams, cargo and passenger transportation services, rescue and emergency services.)

ISO 39001 is applicable to any organization, regardless of type, size and product or service provided, that wishes to :

• •  Assure itself of conformity with its stated RTS policy
• •  Demonstrate conformity with the International standard
