In recent years, with the growing interest in the environment internationally, environmental information is also increasingly being used in decision making by individuals and organizations.

Environmental information includes the following but is not limited.

• •  Environmental footprints (e.g. carbon and water)
• •  Environmental performance
• •  Environmental labelling claims, including environmental product declarations
• •  Environmental information as part of sustainability reporting
• •  Calculations associated with the valuation of environmental resources
• •  Environmental information related to “green bonds”, “climate finance” and other financial instruments

ISO 14065:2020 is a part of ISO/IEC 17029:2019 Conformity assessment, it includes specific requirements related to bodies that validate or verify environmental information.

Bodies which comply with ISO 14065:2020 can be 1st party, 2nd party, 3rd party bodies, this standard can also be used for compliance with the requirements and for coworker evaluation or within groups of the bodies.
