What is Accreditation?

Accreditation is to confirm that the Conformity Assessment Body(CAB), which provides conformity assessment according to specific standards, has the internationally required qualifications and is performing conformity assessment activities fairly. In addition, this is the activity that ensures reliability to society and clients.

Accreditation Body’s Role

The accreditation body ensures that the competence of these conformity assessment bodies and the results of assessments they perform are globally reliable through IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement(MLA) based on international standards. Therefore, it solves the inconvenience of having to undergo continuous evaluations to satisfy the criteria of each body, and provides means to overcome international technological trade barriers.

2. Certification Body

What is Certification?

Certification is “Issuance of a certificate by a third party related to product, process, system or personnel”.
In general, product certification is the process of verifying that a product, including services and systems, meets the requirements set forth in a contract, regulation or manual. Personnel certification is the process which verify the personnel’s qualifications and justification to perform the job.

Certification Body’s Role

A certification body manages the entire process from issuance certificates to withdrawal and renewal, and provides verification of certificates. The certificate holder can prove the reliability through the accredited certification. The certification body perform as a third party that can give reliability, and continuously strives to improve it.

3. IAF(International Accreditation Forum)

IAF is an international accreditation forum established to contribute to the promotion of international trade by resolving technical barriers to trade that may occur in fields such as management system certification, product certification, and personnel certification by signing a MLA with an accreditation body.

Its main function is to develop an international evaluation program that ensures reliability of accredited certificates. In addition, CAB accredited by an accreditation body which has MLA with IAF, can ensure the competence. In addition, clients can through it reduce potential risks.

Relationship between IAS and IGC

IGC is an international accredited certification body that has accredited based on ISO/IEC 17021-1 from IAS, an accreditation body which has MLA with the IAF, and provides various system certification to clients.
